A nod to the end of summer.

A two-part mural painted with artist Shaun Dev for a private client. The brief was to reflect on moments of everyday life. Shaun Dev’s panel is a still life drawn from the client’s own kitchen, a scene of familiar objects down to a halved avocado. URSHTRAY’s panel takes that same moment and translates it into colour and shape. The palette comes straight from the avocado, from deep skin green to soft yellow flesh, broken into layered planes and cut forms. A summer staple, the avocado also gave the work its title, as the wall was completed as the season came to a close. Side by side, the two panels show one subject in two languages: one observed, one abstracted. At full building height, the project shows how a personal story can carry a large-scale wall.
