AKSIS is an artist-run group exhibition founded and curated by URSHTRAY. It explores the tension between precision and spontaneity. The show brings together practices that work with geometry, organic forms, texture, movement and abstraction, and sets them in dialogue across painting, sculpture and object-based work. Several of the artists move between murals and studio work, and AKSIS gives that crossover a gallery context. URSHTRAY’s contribution included a wall-mounted sculptural relief, where URSH letterforms are drawn as flat graphic shapes and then built out into a dimensional object. The opening drew a crowd well beyond the gallery walls, spilling out onto the street. AKSIS has since grown into an ongoing series, with a new edition in development.
