A commissioned mural for an architecture studio, painted across the side wall of a period building on Rathdown Street. The composition takes cues from the language of architecture: columns, vessels, arches and stacked volumes, broken apart and rebuilt as flat planes and soft gradients. Burnt orange, black and warm cream tie the work to the building’s painted brick and the tones of the street. Textured speckle fields, laid down with a blower tool, add grain and depth against the crisp edges. The mural sits low on the façade at eye level, so it reads both from passing traffic and up close from the footpath.
